I am writing this review to protect other customers from what I experienced at Hyundai College Park Service Center. What happened to me was not a simple case of poor customer service — it was dangerous, dishonest, and deeply unprofessional from the service floor all the way up to general manager Joseph. My transmission failed on the highway in 2025 with no warning and was repaired under warranty at this location. In January 2026 the exact same transmission failed again on the highway — complete shutdown at highway speed with zero warning. I had my car towed back to Hyundai College Park where they confirmed the failure, accepted the vehicle for repair, and provided me with a rental car. What followed was four months of complete silence. My car sat at this dealership from January 2026 through May 2026 and I received not a single proactive update. I reached out multiple times and was largely ignored. When I finally received a response in April 2026 I was told they were working on getting Hyundai corporate to authorize the warranty repair. I was patient. I waited. On May 21, 2026 my service advisor called to tell me my car was ready. He explicitly told me the transmission had been fully repaired and that Hyundai corporate had covered the entire cost under warranty. I was relieved after four months of waiting and went to pick up my car the following day. On May 22, 2026 I paid $1,300 for exhaust services and drove off the lot. Within 15 minutes my transmission failed for the third time. My car shut down completely while I was executing a turn in an active turning lane in live traffic. I had just enough time to notice the car jerking, call the dealership to warn them, and then my car died in the middle of the road leaving me stranded and in danger. When I called the dealership after this third breakdown, general manager Joseph admitted in a recorded phone conversation that the transmission had never been repaired at any point during the four months my car was in their possession. He told me the car was released not because the repairs were complete but because the dealership wanted their rental car back. He made a deliberate decision to release my vehicle knowing the transmission was unrepaired and unsafe and said nothing to me about it. The unprofessionalism did not stop there. When my family contacted Joseph demanding answers and an explanation for why I was allowed to drive off in an unsafe vehicle, he was shockingly rude, smug, and completely dismissive. He showed absolutely no remorse for the fact that his decision endangered my life. He did not apologize once. Instead he told us not to put any more money into the car and refused to reimburse my $178 rental car expense — a cost I was forced to incur solely because of his team's negligence. When I called again on May 26, 2026, Joseph maintained the same arrogant and unapologetic attitude, claiming the transmission was no longer under warranty despite the fact that my 2020 Elantra has only 95,000 miles and is still within Hyundai's 10 year/100,000 mile powertrain warranty. To summarize what this dealership and Joseph did: they held my car for four months without repairing it, called me to say it was fixed when it was not, sent me off in a vehicle they knew was dangerous, my transmission failed within 15 minutes putting my life at risk for the third time, and when confronted Joseph was rude, dismissive, unapologetic, and showed zero accountability or basic human decency toward me or my family. If you are considering bringing your vehicle to Hyundai College Park Service Center, please take this review seriously.

Note, this review is of the dealership not the Hyundai brand. I moved to this College Park Hyundai service from another dealer in the DMV area. Overall, I find the service experience quite reliable and reasonable for routine service. I primarily deal with Robert, who is an excellent service manager and is very thorough. He’s straightforward, gives you the information you need and gives you realistic expectations when it is complete. If there are delays, he’ll let you know in advance. I typically come here for diagnostic work or if I anticipate any warranty work that needs to be taken care of. For my wearables (brakes, tires, etc) I usually go to an independent shop because I can get a better price and value, unless College Park Hyundai are running a sale. Yes, the price is — as you might expect — are more than if you were to go to an independent shop. However, coming here for a warranty work or detailed diagnostics usually comes to a quick resolution. I especially like how they take videos of your vehicle as they are expecting it and send it to your phone and they make it very easy to text the service manager, authorize work via their website. This is very valuable for busy working professionals! Sometimes the work is a bit slow, (one time power went out, so not really their fault.) but overall done well. My only grip is that for my Hyundai Tucson, I have this recurrent check engine light that keeps coming on and off, that the dealer has not been able to diagnose. Usually, when the light turns on, I to make an appointment and by the time my appointment comes around the light, then clears and turns off. I know they’ve contacted Hyundai technical assistance to try to help diagnose the problem however, I don’t see this as a failure of the service area, but perhaps rather as a issue with the Hyundai car itself. I can’t comment on the sales experience because I haven’t purchased a vehicle here.Overall, I’d recommend this area for service but if you a expensive job always good to have a independent shop as a second opinion for price comparison.

My experience was good concerning my 1st Oil service appointment. Learning what type of maintenance service I have for my vehicle is a plus.
